minutesMac and cheese is an all time classic that is super simple. This dish is creamy and contains intense flavour.
Ingredients
200g Elbow pasta
1/2 cup of Gruyere cheese grated
1/2 cup of Cheddar grated
1 cup of Milk
25g of Butter
1 tablespoon of Plain flour
1 Slice of bread
Salt to taste
Pepper to taste
Directions
- Place the slice of bread in the toaster. Once toasted, put the bread in a small food processor until finely chopped. Place aside.
- In a medium sauce pan, add the elbow pasta to boiling water and cook following the instructions on the back of the packet.
- While the pasta is cooking. In a medium sauce pan, melt the butter then add the flour and stir until all combined.
- Pour half the milk into the butter mixture and stir for 30 seconds. Then pour the rest of the milk. Do not worry if the mixture looks lumpy it will melt as you stir. Let it simmer for 2 minutes.
- Take the mixture of the heat and place aside. Add the cheese and stir until melted.
- Drain the pasta and fold the cheese sauce over. Add salt and pepper to taste.
- Add the breadcrumbs on top and enjoy.
